Africa Project
A tourism, humanitarian and entrepreneurial ecosystem in Southern Africa: travel, training, enterprise and social impact.

Project overview
The idea grew out of the intersection between years of travel, an on-the-ground network and an entrepreneurial vision — with the intent of moving past the classic aid or extractive-tourism model. We want to build a concrete bridge between Italy and Southern Africa — Zambia, Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe — where travel becomes the first tool for understanding, and from there we develop stable projects around training, craftsmanship, agriculture and enterprise.
At the core sits a tourism-and-culture centre in an area of high landscape and wildlife value (the South Luangwa National Park area is among those under review), designed as a place of hospitality for conscious travellers and, at the same time, as a development platform for the local population. Not just lodges and safaris: an ecosystem including craft workshops (wood, textiles, leather, jewellery), sustainable agriculture, livestock, a wildlife recovery area, a medical outpost and educational spaces.
The model is hybrid: the tourism centre generates revenue and attracts international flows; part of the proceeds fund the vocational workshops and the social initiatives around the village. Guests aren't simply consumers of experiences — they can choose to engage directly with local activities, contributing skills, time or resources.
Zambia offers a stable context: an established democracy, no ethnic or religious conflict, basic infrastructure, a young and welcoming population, some of the best-preserved nature on the continent and safari guides among the most highly trained in the world. Tourism is a growing industry, and neighbouring reserves (Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe) make cross-border, high-value itineraries possible.
It's a multi-year project: it starts with guided journeys and feasibility studies, moves on to incorporating the operating company, acquiring the land, obtaining permits and building the first phase, and progressively grows into a replicable ecosystem. We're looking for travelling companions — investors, technical partners, professionals, travellers — interested in building something meant to last decades, not seasons.
Challenge
Build a concrete bridge between Italy and Southern Africa that moves past both extractive tourism and traditional aid. Fuse travel experience, local relationships and entrepreneurial vision into a single ecosystem capable of generating economic, social and environmental value over the long term.
Solution
A long path: starting from guided journeys as a way to know the territory, building stable relationships with local operators and communities, and progressively enabling a tourism-and-culture centre connected to craft workshops, sustainable agriculture, a medical outpost and vocational training. A hybrid model where tourism, enterprise and social impact fund one another.
Impact
- •An integrated ecosystem of tourism + training + enterprise in Southern Africa
- •A tourism-and-culture centre linked to craft and agricultural workshops
- •A network of stable relationships with operators in Zambia, Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe
- •Annual guided journeys as scouting and knowledge-building tools
- •A replicable model designed on a decade-long horizon
Delivery process
Scouting & Trips
Guided trips across Southern Africa to know the territory, operators and local communities and identify the best area for the centre.
Feasibility study
Territory analysis, landscape and wildlife assessment, review of infrastructure, permits, regulatory framework and local partnership opportunities.
Company & Funding
Incorporating the operating company, defining its scope and bringing in sponsors, foundations, private investors and European funding channels.
Pilot phase
