Gioconews

Project overview

Gioconews is a specialist digital publisher with a very large historical archive. The project started from a ground-up design of the new brand identity — visual system, communication collateral, guidelines — and expanded into a full new-site build, first prototyped and then implemented on a proprietary CMS.

The real complexity wasn't just visual: the site came from a Joomla CMS layered over years, hundreds of thousands of articles classified through highly heterogeneous logics, overlapping taxonomies, redirects and internal links that had to be preserved to protect SEO and editorial continuity. It required serious work on information architecture, content mapping, coherent taxonomy design and technical migration to the new CMS.

On the new site we simplified the information architecture, removed unnecessary steps, retired obsolete features and introduced new capabilities — a more modern back office, clearer editorial flows, a more legible and performant frontend. A digital editorial project that fused rebrand, product design and large-volume technical migration.
